I see NHS patients in person in my Arrhythmia Clinic at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, offering telephone consultations for those who are further afield (Highland, Moray, Northern Isles). Patients can be referred to my NHS clinic by their GP, or by another hospital specialist.
Some patients have already been diagnosed with a heart rhythm problem and require an expert opinion on management. Others have experienced symptoms like palpitation, breathlessness, or fatigue and require investigations to determine the cause. I most commonly treat patients with atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT and ectopics. I also see and advise patients who have, or may require, a pacemaker or a defibrillator.
I undertake a weekly list in the Cardiac Catheter Lab at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, performing catheter ablations and device implantations under both local anaesthetic and general anaesthetic.
I offer private patient consultations at Hourglass Wellbeing, a new private medical clinic in Aberdeen City Centre. Patients may self refer to this service, or can be referred by their GP. Where possible we support patients with private health insurance, working closely with several large health insurance providers.
I also undertake catheter ablation in the private sector. In fact, I am the only invasive Electrophysiologist based in the North of Scotland (Grampian, Highland, Moray, Northern Isles) who offers this service.
Invasive procedures are performed at Spire Shawfair Park in Edinburgh, as there is no more northerly private facility for invasive electrophysiology. However, patient follow up and prior consultations can be delivered locally.
Private telephone consultations are also available.
